“Egocentric Youth” The Story so Far…

This silly silly song… lol Many think this song is about me, but for the record I’m not blond/rich/and I’m not that synical [well not all the time anyway ]

Back in 2001 me and little bro, Leo, were messing around with some dj software he had stumbled upon–I think it was Rebirth? He’s always very much into remixing, and works currently as a dj among other things. So anywho! He had made this hot little downbeat track [instrumentals only], some chill beats put to a simple piano melody. I can write lyrics/poems/stories/etc like its going out of style; so he asked me to listen to his track and come up with a song [boy did I ever! lol]

Just to give u an idea of the “why I chose the subject matter”— Leo & I went to the same art college here in South Florida so we shared lot of the same friends– a pack of pretty/spoiled/synical/clicky boys and girls lol. People that lived to look hot, get in the hottest clubs, and act like they were the shit [Leo & I included lol] So I always used to say “What a pack ‘o debutants…” And so that jumped in my head when I started singing to Leo’s track. I imagined this kid that has it all [at least in his head], who’s done it all [at least in his book], and who’s over everything [at least to his eyes]; but who in the end falls in love just like anyone else.

The song had everyone we knew cracking-up for a while [let's face it/ it was a song about them lol] Eventually someone told me about the Creative Commons and that I should release the track for djs to remix; sounded pretty chill to me–so I did!
