“When I Close My Eyes”

So I was bored ’round CCMixter.org and bumped onto a Collaboration “The CCMixter Collective”. DJ Rkod [on ccmixter] was trying to put together a CCMixter entry to the RPM Challenge ’08 [Some online contest where you only get a month to put together an album... pretty crazy if you ask me.] Anywho! The team needed vocalists, so I volunteered–ended up performing lyrics provided for the collaboration by Narva9 [also on ccmixter]. Some other chick on there beat me to it since there was a deadline… but is all cool. I released the vocals to the Creative Commons on CCMixter after getting an “ok” by the director of the collaboration to see what the other djs on there could do with it; and here are the results so far [guess i'll keep adding to this post as other remixes are available].

I reaaaaaaaaaaally like the lyrics on this song. I think this girl Narva9 is a pretty good writer. The lyrics in this song are primarily what made me want to perform it. Is the story of a “procrastinator”, which I know a lot about lol. It is a pretty deep full circle. I wanted to sing this with a lot of sentiment and in a meditative tone [more like spoken-word ala MOBY]. In the end is all very nostalgic, very downbeat, very chillastic.

Notes: I’m not sure I like this mix to be honest. I really like the music Briareus has put together here… just not sure I like the pseudo sync of the vocals. Other than that I can listen to this and its sentimental take on things.

Notes: This is my mix of the thing-a-majiger. I really like DJ Rkod’s original mix planned for this song [that mix never happened]. So I went ahead and made this “straight to the point] mix just to see what it’d be like. Not too shabby if you ask me! But what do I know?
